I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master of Social Work degree. As a therapist, my aim is to teach you skills and strategies through evidence-based practices to manage life stressors and trauma and achieve a more fulfilling life.
My approach
My approach to therapy involves providing unconditional positive regard, empathy, and building a solid therapeutic relationship. Together, we can work towards developing your personal mental health goals and an individualized treatment plan that will make you feel understood and supported. I utilize modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).
My focus
I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, stress, coping skills, cultural stress, depersonalization/derealization (DPDR), domestic violence, family conflict, sexual abuse, transgender issues, and women's issues. I work with individuals, including minors (ages 13-17) and preteens (ages 8-12).
My communication style
In our sessions, I will listen closely to understand your unique experiences, needs and goals. I communicate with empathy, openness and unconditional positive regard. My style is collaborative - we will work as a team to help you develop greater self-awareness, learn practical coping strategies, process difficult experiences, and make positive changes aligned with your values.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have been drawn to the mental health field since 2008 out of a deep desire to help others navigate life's challenges and live more fulfilling lives. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with diverse populations of adolescents, adults, and families in various settings throughout California, including public schools, county agencies, non-profits, and private homes. These experiences have given me a broad perspective on mental health and strengthened my commitment to this meaningful work.
My goals for you
My primary goals are to help you gain clarity and insight into your thoughts, emotions and behavioral patterns; learn healthy ways to cope with stress, anxiety and trauma; improve your relationships and communication skills; build resilience; and ultimately enhance your overall quality of life. I want to empower you with the self-awareness and practical tools to navigate challenges, make positive changes, and lead a life that feels authentic and fulfilling to you.
My first session with you
In our first session, I will focus on creating a warm, non-judgmental space where you feel safe to share your story, struggles and aspirations. I will ask questions to gain a holistic understanding of your background, current circumstances, and therapy goals. We will begin building a trusting therapeutic alliance - the foundation for our work together. I will also share more about my approach and how I can best support you. My hope is that you leave our first session feeling heard, hopeful, and empowered to begin the journey of growth and healing.
