Hello, my name is Danielle Austin, LCSW and my approach to the therapeutic process is to authentically engage with my client in their process to act as a guide and support when someone is looking for changes but may not know where to begin or how to move forward on their own. My main focus is on trauma work, and trauma looks different for everyone so my work is very individualized for each person.
My approach
The most common approaches that I use are client-centered, trauma resiliency model, trauma-focused CBT, and family systems.
My focus
I have extensive experience with the following populations, older adults, parents, veterans, LGBTQIA+, domestic violence survivors, and people experiencing anxiety, PTSD, psychosis, and substance use.
My communication style
I provide an authentic and calming environment for my clients. I allow a space for my client to feel comfortable to move through the therapeutic process at their own pace while gently challenging or pushing them as needed. Clients should feel free to speak how they wish and say whatever is coming to them at the moment. I am always open and willing to discuss the therapeutic dynamic at any point. I am real with you and hope that you can be real with me.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have had my own journey through healing and have always loved the human components of life. As I have worked my way through my career, I have learned more and gained more insight into what people need out of life. I am a therapist because what I have seen is that people need safety and trust in other people. I want to help others reach their potential by providing for these needs in the therapeutic setting.
My goals for you
I address goal setting at the start of treatment so that we have a clear path. Goals are also checked in on and updated along the way to ensure progress is being made.
My first session with you
The first session is a get-to-know-each-other and goal-setting meeting. Clients can expect me to ask what they are looking to get out of our sessions.
