My name is Diana. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Santa Monica, CA. I specialize in helping individuals learn skills to regulate mood, improve relationships, and create a greater sense of life satisfaction. I’m certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and work from an integrative framework, combining mindfulness, somatic work, and trauma-informed approaches.
My approach
I provide a safe space where we can work as a collaborative team. I approach therapy from an attachment-based perspective and build upon the resilience that you already possess. I specialize in the treatment of mood disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders, and suicidal ideation. I have also assessed and treated other issues such as PTSD, OCD, and dissociative disorders.
My focus
I primarily work with adults and couples. I find that my therapeutic style is particularly helpful for young women who are navigating the intersection of complex issues related to mood, relationships, and self-esteem. We will work together to identify current life stressors and build skills to enhance your wellbeing.
My communication style
I have a gentle tone of voice that creates a sense of comfort within the room. My communication style is warm and direct. I offer empathy, understanding, and compassion as I listen to what my client is sharing with me during the session.
My journey to mental healthcare
Becoming a therapist is something that I innately felt within. I believe in the healing power of relationships. I learn from you as you learn from me. I am fortunate that my chosen career is also my life passion. The most exciting aspect of my career is working with people from different backgrounds and life experiences. Each of us has a voice and a story to tell. I truly value the perspective of each client that I work with.
My goals for you
My hope is for you to use therapy as a platform to explore emotionally charged topics, past resentments, and future goals in order to create a strong, loving relationship with yourself. I’m here to encourage your progress and provide support as you continue along your journey. My goal is not to keep you in therapy forever. My goal is to help you feel a greater sense of empowerment and self-reliance that allows you to live the life you want.
My first session with you
In our first session together, we talk about what to expect in therapy. I focus on building trust, safety, and establishing a relationship with you. We will explore what prompted your decision to begin therapy and identify the goals you hope to achieve. I’ll ask you questions about what has been happening in your life lately and I’ll ask about relevant personal history to gain a deeper understanding of your life experiences. We will address any questions you may have about the therapy process and create a treatment plan designed to achieve your identified goals.
