Hello, I’m Jennifer! My name is Jennifer Cowley. I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Butte County, California, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I have a passion for helping individuals navigate life’s challenges.
My approach
My approach to therapy varies on the individual needs of each client, drawing from an eclectic, strength-based, trauma-informed approach utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Mindfulness practices, and Solution-Focused Therapy. I'm dedicated to helping my clients gain insight and understanding in their journey of healing and personal growth.
My focus
I enjoy working with adults 18-65 specializing in anxiety, stress, perinatal disorders, grief and loss, depression, mood disorders, and trauma.
My communication style
My communication style reflects my calm, personable, and compassionate nature. I value emotional language and connection which I feel allows me a deeper understanding of what others may experience. I will meet you with open-mindedness and unconditional positive regard while adopting an attitude of acceptance, genuineness, and empathy, providing non-judgmental, empathetic, therapeutic environment.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a therapist because I have naturally been drawn to helping people through difficult times. I feel honored to be included in the therapeutic process and enjoy seeing individuals reach their goals and become the best versions of themselves.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting with clients is collaboratively working together to identify what you want to accomplish in our time together. You are the expert in your life.
My first session with you
You can expect our first session together is talking about why you’ve come to therapy and what expectations you have of therapy. Working together to build a therapeutic relationship, discuss how you may be feeling, me asking questions to gain understanding of your experience, setting goals, and answering questions you may have.
