My name is Norine Campbell. I am a licensed Clinical Forensic Psychologist. My approach to therapy is to develop a trusting therapeutic relationship so that the focus can be on healing in a nonjudgmental and safe space in order to move toward positive change.
My approach
My approach to therapy is typically client-centered where I meet people where they are at when they begin therapy. I like to use motivational interviewing which helps me to determine where people are as far as their willingness and ability to make the changes they would like to see in their lives. I also use cognitive behavioral and mindfulness-based approaches.
My focus
My focus has been on adolescents and adults dealing with severe mental illness, substance abuse issues, trauma, behavioral issues, anxiety, and anger.
My communication style
I present with a calm demeanor and accepting tone. I typically receive feedback that I am easy to engage with and offer a non-judgmental space. Working with me should feel comfortable and inviting and at times challenging as you make strides to reach your goals.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always gravitated toward a career as a therapist. My journey began as soon as I graduated from high school when I entered college with a major in Psychology. It is rewarding to see when people take steps to change their lives in a more positive direction. That is what drives me to continue in this field. I see myself as partnering with you to move forward in reaching your goals.
My goals for you
I hope to collaborate with you to set goals that you are comfortable with and that are attainable. I expect to challenge you to create goals that are not only within your reach but also that help you to follow through with your desires to reach those goals.
My first session with you
During the first session, it will be important to share that our sessions will be a safe space for you to openly discuss what brought you to begin therapy. This will also be an opportunity to develop rapport and begin collaborating together on what you are looking to accomplish at this point in your life.
