Hi! My name is Poppy Peluce-Fune. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience. My focus is you! I use an eclectic approach that is specifically designed to meet your needs, your healing potential, and at the pace you choose. I have a passion for fostering the human potential toward healing. I would love to go on this personal journey with you!
My approach
I am a generalist practitioner who will embrace the uniqueness of your life story while integrating the fundamental needs that are collectively human: the need to connect to your authentic self simultaneously with the need to connect to others. My approach borrows from theories grounded in client-centered work, cognitive behavioral theory, mindfulness, EMDR, and so much more all through the lens of human attachment theory and trauma-informed care.
My focus
Although I have worked with clients of all ages and presenting concerns from various walks of life, my approach is a good fit for older teens and younger to middle-aged individuals. I have advanced training working with mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, and family/relational conflict. Wherever the need is simple or complex, I am client-centered building on the already existing strengths of the individual or family system. Together, my clients and I create deeper meaning and understanding fostering favorable pivots to make life just a little more bearable.
My communication style
My primary goal is to create emotional safety in the context of a supportive, nonjudgmental, and therapeutic environment. Therapy is only as effective as the relational pull between the therapist and the client. This means that every approach I take is first grounded in my ability to listen, connect, and reflect. I meet my clients wherever they are at, standing alongside them gently nudging and pacing ensuring there is forward movement toward their decided goals.
My journey to mental healthcare
As far back as I can remember, I have always maintained a passion for gaining a deeper understanding of the human mind and finding ways to simplify the complex nature of our actions, feelings, decisions, and relationships. I love to share what I have learned and it is one of the most rewarding experiences to witness humans heal.
My goals for you
Goal setting generally occurs within the first 1-3 sessions. I believe that every client I see wants to gain something from the therapeutic process. If the client cannot articulate what the goals might be, I use a collaborative approach so that together we can find the language that most resonates and launches the client into a safe and guided therapeutic journey.
My first session with you
At the end of my introduction and intake session, I always ask, "Did this feel comfortable for you?" I also inform my clients that I pride myself on making the therapeutic process as transparent as possible. I am eager to know what works well for my clients so that I can adapt to their individual needs. Emotional safety is imperative. It is my goal that after the first session, my clients feel seen and hopeful about embarking on their personal journey with me.
