Getting started
Individual therapy, family therapy, and couples therapy are all covered by EAP.
At this time, psychiatry or medication management are not covered by EAP. Additionally, you cannot receive EAP therapy sessions and other services (such as psychiatry through your medical insurance) at the same time. If you've started using your EAP benefits for therapy and would like to see a psychiatrist, you'll need to complete all of your remaining EAP therapy sessions first. Once those sessions are finished, we can help transition you to psychiatry services using your medical insurance.
Yes, but not at the same time. Your EAP benefit covers a set number of free sessions first, typically 3 - 8 sessions. Once those are used, you can transition to using your regular health insurance for continued care. When browsing for a provider, you will be prompted to enter your insurance carrier along with your EAP to ensure that you can match with a provider that accepts both your EAP and your insurance. We will provide you with up front information about your expected costs if you choose to make the transition from EAP to insurance pay.
We're expanding our EAP partnerships. If your EAP isn't currently listed, we recommend selecting your insurance carrier instead. Providers on the Rula platform are in-network with most major insurance plans. Rula patients typically pay $15 per session, although your individual cost may vary based on your insurance benefits and deductible. We’ll work with your insurance to confirm your estimated per session cost before your first appointment.

Understanding costs and coverage
$0 for the number of sessions your EAP covers. Most EAPs cover 3-8 sessions per issue, per year at no cost to you. There are no copays, deductibles, or hidden fees during your EAP-covered sessions. No, Rula does not charge any fees. You’re only responsible for any applicable out-of-pocket expenses determined by your insurance – in other words, if your plan requires a $20 copay, that’s the most you would pay. Rula does charge a fee in the case of no-show or late cancellations (cancellations within 24 hours of the appointment).
Yes, Rula charges fees for appointment no-shows and late cancellations (cancellations within 24 hours of the appointment). However, how these fees are handled depends on your specific EAP plan.
Some EAP plans cover no-show and late cancellation fees, in which case you will be charged 0$ but the appointment will count as one of your available EAP sessions. Other EAP plans do not cover these fees, and you will be charged Rula's standard no-show or late cancellation fee directly. We recommend checking with your EAP provider to understand how your specific plan handles these situations.
